6. Septic Pumping: Costs a lot for the truck and EPA approved dumping; but a company I use charges about $5k for 10k gallons of pumping. Takes about 2 hours

   1. That’s a ridiculous price.

   2. If they’re charging you that, you have been getting robbed blind. An average 1,000 gal tank is roughly $300 in my area. You can 10x it for your amount but there is also a slight discount if there is a lot of volume. Even without volume discount you’re getting severely overcharged unless the 10k gal are split up and located a far drive apart

   3. @@YaNJASlc You can’t say it’s a rip-off if you don’t know the specifics. First, to pump 10k gallons, there are going to be multiple trips to pump and then go dump the material. The septic trucks don’t have that kind of volume to make it a one and done. How far away is the dumping facility? What is the access to the septic tank? Can you just drive up or do you need to haul out a bunch of hose? What are the dumping fees? I doubt they are the same everywhere. Lots of questions and variables to price a job.

      like right now in the area I’m in standard tanks for houses 1000-1500 gallon is anywhere between 600-1000 dollars..

      Then they may store that in larger tanks and have another company tank 7000gallons from them at a time with larger trucks and ease of access…

      Then there’s locating and digging up the tanks because most people have no idea where the tank is and have never had it pumped..

8. So, ive recently added crime scene cleanup to what my company offers. It is very a difficult field to become established in. A lot of the national companies that plaster commercials get those calls and references.

11. These are great ideas. You could do an in-depth video of each service job and get to the nuts n’ bolts of each business. Things like training, certification, licensing, insurance, equipment selection. Dealing with OSHA, EPD/EPA, DOT, city and county ordinances, HUD, HHS, etc. Plus, record keeping, taxes, building a client base, types of contracts, legal services for each business.
