First thing I do when I feel lazy is open the design software and stare at the blank canvas for a few minutes
the beginning of all creative works starts with a blank canvas.
Nicr one, I’m gonna try that. Thanks
A few long minutes
I do this allot.. I have no idea how things start to generate from this process but there is a long period of just empty thoughts…
Does this work?
I used to do this in college when writing papers
I really like your way of thinking as a creative person, I have been following you for a some time. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge.
Thank you
Just gotta show up! That’s often the hardest part. Great words of wisdom!
This video is great for anyone regardless of the professional or industry. In today’s environment, this is a timely video for everyone taking themselves beyond the lazy.
It’s crazy how day to day it feels like you’re all alone, but this shows it’s ALL of us.
we are all in this together
I’m the same and have been debating and experimenting unsuccessfully with getting help to edit videos. I can and do work physically demanding filming jobs that can be 16 hours long and eager to do more but struggle to get a few hours of editing work done. The dream is working with editors who are genuinely good, so im proud to send the work to my clients but also quicker than me as well. Probably need to charge more money as well to make that more plausible though.
Thanks for the advice!
You are right, i dont enjoy working all the time but I am very good at instruction and take the lead and take steps.
Chris Do: “I’m a self proclaimed lazy person” also Chris: “I work 14 hours per day” I actually relate lol!
Haha. Cake and eat it.
I do workout for 4days a week and I do nothing on weekends , I will spend doodling , or go to collaba(street shopping) or have my food at a nice cafe or just sleep for a little long hours . No screens nothing . I use my phone only to see when the next bus is comming or where I am rn in the map and how to go home(sometimes I forget my way from beach to home ). Sometimes I watch kdrama but I do not like clinging to the screen without any purpose , I don’t know from where people get courage to watch netflix or entire webseries , I like going out even if I am alone 😊
You know what is crazier Chris? It is how being a multi-talented creative who is also trying to be very good across those different things and work in them can lead to one falling into the Lazy creative tunnel. And I feel like I am not lazy, there is alot I want to do but sometimes it gets alot, I freeze, I try to learn across different fields on one project and I am getting more distracted! My goodness, i do not want to be the lazy creative but I also am. Thank you for this video Chris. It really hit alot of pain points for me. Now, let me go and figure out how I can incorporate this in my life,
My same exact problem dude
Sameeee😢
this is exact what i’m going through!
Omg, there are others who share this same issue. I feel like i should not be glad but i am glad to hear you guys say so. Like my whole family looks at me weird these days. They have the talk about life with me every two weeks😭😭😭
I know this feeling, too many options and possibilities. I also learn multiple disciplinary and applied to a project.
For me, I think the problem starts from too curious and too broad interest.
Here you go:
1. Take the smallest Viable Action (SVA)
2. Attach Reward to pain
3. Hire others
4. Automate Automate
5. Systemize and Productize
6. Hire a coach
7. Be a Franchisee
8. Activate Momentum
Thank you❤
Thanks! Was even to lazy to watch the entire video😇
Came here to say that Chris Do has transformed many’s lives including mine! I hope you never stop teaching even if people don’t appreciate it as much. You’re a hero 🔥
I have ADHD, and these tips look like the things I use to do in order to accomplish my tasks without procrastinating and getting bored.
Man I agree and I feel the struggle leaks into mental health so easily. In creative jobs you’re usually god for few hours or days and no one right after that… sitting alone. I grew and talked myself into realise its a good feeling, feeing depressed and down, is part of the cycle to then be hyper creative and the guy that’s running the show. I’ll definitely use these tips to jump back and start producing meaningful work quicker tho. Thanks
This is good info. I too am the hardest working lazy person. My inner strength is I’m petty. My go to attitude adjustment is whenever I feel lazy to step up to bat, I just think about my competition getting ahead and I instantly get into the zone. Consider this Chef Curry’s Last Dance Mamba Mentality. If you’re prepared and obsessed with defeating the opposition, then you win. Make someone else’s hardest day of work your easiest.
watching the futur is a way i get into the zone and start to rebuild momentum
First thing I did which in my surprise is quite effective for me is to spread out papers, books, and stationeries on my bed. Spreading it out, not stacked, feels like I’m already started doing the thing, it’s a bit messy sadly but it works. When I lied down bored, instead of dumb scrolling my phone, my brain think “oh.. let’s do a quick sketch,” “let’s do quick study,” “let’s read few pages,” and such.
I never got my head around the concept of rewarding myself. Because how would I stop myself to take a reward just whenever I want? I eat the ice cream no matter if I did the work before or not 🙁
Ritual is key! Preparation, setting, dress, the music you listen to before that, anything that puts you in the zone. It’s not the rhythm, it’s the transient.
The same thing happens to me if I just say “I am just gonna do 20 mins on the treadmill.” It works!
