In the past, I did a full step by step tutorial on how to publish your book on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. What I did not go into, however, was how to prep the files for uploading ahead of time. In this video I'm going to go over the file requirements for hen you are publishing for print or ebook on KDP and how to prep the interior of your book and the manuscript.

How to Upload Your Book Files to KDP: Self-Publishing Upload Requirements
Search terms: book publishing on amazon, self publishing with kdp, amazon kindle direct publishing
Thanks, Mandi Lynn!
Thanks for watching!
Can you help me publish my book on KDP
I’m not working with clients at this moment
If I’m using KDP’s ISBN, how do I put it inside my print book, if I don’t have the number?
If you start the uploading process on KDP, they assign you the ISBN before you have to upload anything.
@MandiLynnWrites thanks.. I’ll be doing that in a couple of months.
Yes, I’m interested to get info on everything what should be on book cover and first and last pages
The video is coming soon!
Heck yeah, a video on copyright pages would be dope
I’m working on it! 😉
@@MandiLynnWritesamazing! Can’t wait!
This course requires use of a very difficult Adobe program, which (almost) requires a college degree. NOT user friendly.
To be blunt, any unfamiliar software is going to feel like it isn’t user friendly. Any sort of technical and professional software will require you to learn, whether that be through a course or YouTube videos. I find Adobe InDesign to be a great option for formatting. That’s not to say it’s the only option (you can format using Word, like I mention in the video) but I personally find InDesign the best option. Because of that, I made a course teaching others what I know. All the tips I talk about in this video can apply to just about any formatting software. It’s not exclusive to Adobe.
When you say “linked below”…. Where exactly are the links….? Thank you….
In the description of the video
OMG there’s got to be an easier way than all of this!
What a i app has enough pixcels and everything we need to use on kdp for a childrens book?
Thanks, for all the information!! great source!!
Question / Scenario: As an indie author + cover designer who owns their ISBNs – how can I ensure my KDP direct upload + IngramSpark book cover look the same given their differing templates and upload requirements? Do I flatten the design file and shift it around or do I do a complete Stage 1 redesign in the hope it looks like the same product? I’m asking this as someone who watched your videos on publishing paperbacks through different providers.
Videos are fire thank you!
Can you do a video of designing a book cover with GIMP.
Hi Mandi!!!! I loveeee your videos 🙂 can ask a question?
Am I allowed to schedule my release in advance for paperback book with both Ingram and KDP? That’s what I want to do and I just uploaded to KDP today but now what I’m wondering is can I upload it to Ingram also for a scheduled release date, or do I just put Ingram on “distribute only to me” then hit wide distribute on release date???
I’ve heard that you can’t schedule a release on KDP and Ingram at the same time. I saw the KDP policy that says as much. Here’s the kdp policy:
Eligibility. Only new KDP print books are eligible to schedule a release date. The following book types are not eligible for scheduled release:
Public domain books
Low-content books
eBooks
Previously-published books
Books that are scheduled for release with another publisher
Doesn’t that suggest that KDP doesn’t want us scheduling with Ingram if we are scheduling with KDP?
Watching and it’s all about “buy my course”
yes the whole thing is one long ad
I really wanted to use your video for help. But, you’re just all over the place. I’m following…..
How do you get a blurb on to a book cover file?
Perhaps at the beginning of your video you could state you have courses then not mention it again. This video is helpful but the course promotion got very frustrating.
Useless. Don’t watch
