Re-Publishing My Books Under a New Pen Name & COVER REVEALS!

In this video, the author, Mandy Lynn, discusses her decision to create a new pen name, Mandy Lynn Bell, and the reasons behind it. She explains that she faced challenges with having a single pen name for both her fiction and non-fiction works, as the audiences for these two genres did not overlap well. This caused issues with her newsletters, social media, and marketing efforts.

To address this problem, the author decided to create a separate pen name, Mandy Lynn Bell, exclusively for her fiction writing. She discusses the process of rebranding, which involved updating various aspects of her author identity, including her author photo, bio, Amazon author Central page, website, newsletter, and Instagram profile. Additionally, she reveals the new covers for her previously published fiction books and explains how she updated the book interiors and covers to reflect her new pen name.

The author’s goal with this rebranding is to have a clearer separation between her fiction and non-fiction work, making it easier to target the right audience for each genre. She hopes that this change will allow her to market her books more effectively and grow her fiction readership under the new pen name, Mandy Lynn Bell.

  1. Thank you for speaking on the brand and marketing side of self-publishing! I’m working on releasing my poetry collection in Sept., but my current IG page is geared to writers since I’m a freelance editor and beta reader. I hadn’t even considered not catering to both sides of my intended audiences. That aside, I love the new pen name, and the new covers are GORGEOUS!

    1. I know! I struggled a lot because I did love my old covers so much, but it’s hard not to live the new covers too!

    2. @Mandi Lynn – Stone Ridge Books luckily I have the old covers. But, clearly I will need to get them with the new covers as well.

  2. The new covers are gorgeous! I wish you so much luck on your rebrand. It’s wild to think about how marketing can be impacted by things like what subjects you cover in newsletters/IG posts/etc.

Thanks for sharing your process. ❤

    1. Right? It’s something you don’t realize until you’re you’re deep in the trenches and it takes more work to fix the problem haha

  3. On the print books in KDP when I rebranded from my real name to my Pen name, I archived the old print and uploaded a new interior file with the new cover and new pen name. This is what KDP support told me to do. You can do this and get a new free ISBN. However, if you have your own ISBN then the way you did it would be the only way to do it. I use the free KDP ISBN so I just made a new print book.

  4. I have four publishing names and I want to take it down to two. I’ve always been afraid of getting in trouble for changing metadata on Amazon and was told that the only way not to was to have both names ( add the main pen name writing as the secondary one) I would prefer to just have one name so , I will try it this way.

  5. I’m writing fiction and non fiction, only haven’t published due to an employer contract. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and you’ve made clear what I should do. Thank you very much!

  6. I have two pen names as well: one for my fantasy books and the other for my sci-fi horror.
