What if you’re holding the brakes down instead of constantly pressing them? will that still lower the psi for the air brakes or is it just for constantly pressing?
If it does it’s unnoticeable. It stops once the break is engaged. Then when you let go the brake, that air pressure that was pushing against the break empties out. It’s hard to run out of air unless someone is intentionally pumping the air out.
If you lose 4 psi in 1 minute while holding the brakes then that means you have an air leak. It’s part of your air brakes pre trip inspection…

A combination vehicle like a semi is 4 psi per minute.

Trucks doesn’t have two compressors. But has two air tanks. Primary and secondary. Primary for rear axle brakes and secondary for front ones.
Are this brakes the same as on semi trucks? I thought that these brakes are not “air brakes” but something like “hydraulic over air” which is closer to hydraulic than to air ones.
